Leaving home and heading to college is exciting, scary, and even mysterious. You didn't pack up everything you own, cram it into your car, and say goodbye to your family and home town because you wanted to play it safe. You've heard the statistics - dropout rates as high as 47%, average student loan debt over $44,000, 50% of students will change their major at least once - we won't even get into potluck roommates or community bathrooms!
A statistic that has startled us is how 70-80% of college students walk away from their faith and church by the time they graduate. By learning the "why" behind Jesus' ministry it's our mission to partner with campuses and lower that percentage! We do this through small group studies and one-on-one mentorship.
We are here because we see the value and importance of investing in college students. We are dedicated to influencing their present time in college so they will then be influential in their futures - all under the banner of Christ and advancing the Gospel.
It's our mission to partner with campuses to invest in student disciple makers through small groups and one-on-one mentorship.
It is our intent that the alumni of Christian Challenge ACT:
Adore Christ (Desire and prioritize Jesus above all else)
Cultivate Character (Grow more like Jesus in character and lifestyle)
Take Action (Be equipped servant leaders in their church and world)
Terry and Lorie Baldwin
Terry is the director of Christian Challenge Salina. Terry and Lorie met in Salina where they both attended college, Terry at Salina Tech and Lorie at Brown Mackie. It wasn't until their own daughters left for college that they began to see the impact of college ministry and desired to see it in the Salina schools. Today, Lorie is a nurse and Terry is full-time staff with Challenge. They enjoy hiking, cycling, as well as sharing their home with anyone from grand-babies to college students!
